Fiction Copyediting and Proofreading Services
I perform all edits according to the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition, and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. All editing services come with a free 5-page sample edit. Romance and women's fiction are my specialties, but I'm happy to edit all genres of fiction as well as memoir and certain nonfiction writing.
Types of editing I offer:
Copyediting happens after writing, developmental editing, and revision. This phase focuses on clarity, consistency, correct language usage, and readability.
Tasks I'll perform:
~Create a style sheet of character names, timelines, and spellings of certain words unique to your novel
~Address grammar and syntax issues
~Correct spelling, punctuation, spacing, and capitalization
~Verify basic facts
~Flag wordiness, repetition, and redundancy
~Flag tone and style deviations
~Correct misused or problematic words
Proofreading occurs after copyediting. It is typically the final check through your manuscript to correct any lingering errors or typos before formatting and publication.
Corrections I'll perform:
~Grammar
~Spelling
~Punctuation
~Capitalization
~Spacing and general formatting
